Yes, but without a hood this full sized DIN still looks like an atrocity.

yeah, it let's make a nice hood for the din connector as well

Unfortunately my Pi wouldn't fit, the 3B+ is bigger than the 3A. In any case, I agree with MadLynx, I think the casing needs to cover everything.

yes, case for 3B+ coming too, and solution for DIN connector too

Remembered I had a thermal imager laying around and measured temps of the MP32L and Raspberry Pi (backside) after 30 mins. idle. 😀
Temps are in degrees celcius.

Can I assume you have a heat dissipator installed?

Assumption correct. 😀

I'm currently building a mt32-pi-midi-hat as a fun side project and the two hats seem to be pretty similar in design and functionality. Serge's board is a lot more compact and professional though 😀

I can't speak highly enough about the community's MT-32 emulation efforts. It's such a luxury to have all these options. Any form, size, style, build complexity of MT-32 device you could possibly want. Everybody is catered for. That's a rare and cool thing.

Just started testing it out today, and I have maybe a dumb question: what do the buttons on the MT32L do?

Starting from the left:
1-> Change between MT-32 mode and SoundFont mode.
2->Change soundfont/MT-32 ROM
3-> Volume down
4->Volume up

Couple more questions:
Is there a way to mute the output? I have two midi devices, daisy chained, and I want to selectively mute the one I'm not using.

Is there a way to rotate the display output? My screen is displaying so the buttons are above it. Not a big issue, just wondering.

This can be done in the mt32-pi.cfg file on the sd card.
There is an option under LCD “rotation”. Set this to inverted and you’re good to go.

Final 3d printed enclosure coming soon for PI3A+
After this, also for PI3B / PI4

In august, I will make some 'ready to go' complete sets : MP32L PCB + PI3A+ + 3d printed enclosure + micro sd card + power supply.
I don't know pricing yet at the moment, and don't want to pollute this development thread. If you are interested in this, please pm me, or contact me through https://www.serdashop.com/Contact
The only thing missing will be the MT32 ROM files, which you need to place on the micro sd card yourself.
I will keep a wait list in chronological order and contact you with a quote when I have sets available. (you're still free to decide at that moment).
Parts availability is not so easy, I will source all needed for MP32L and McCake.
