I have a MSI MS-6368 S370 motherboard which provides SBPro 2.0 capability using the VIA VT686B Southbridge. I've connected my SC-7 to the motherboard's gameport and have been playing a lot of DOOM, and I have yet to hear the infamous "hanging-note" bug. Does this mean that the integrated chipset provides bug-free MIDI? In that case, would pairing it with a SB16 Vibra-S with OPL3 provide the cheapest way to get maximum compatibility in DOS?

The hanging note bug only apples to original SB16 cards (not clones), so the combination of your motherboard's MPU401 capability with the SB16 for audio should be a great.
