I really like this rendition of this Doom track found on the installer for Doom Collectors edition. I’m guessing it was recorded from a Roland SC-55. Just wanted someone with a better ear than me to confirm.

I do not know the hardware it was recorded from but I would say it was definitely NOT SC-55.
One of the famous 'fingerprint' of SC-55 is the cut off hi-hat/muted cymbal at the beginning of Doom that the above record does not reproduce. In your record that part starts about at 10 sec. and the cymbal 'rings' more than on a real SC-55.
I'm talking about this (about 27 sec. from start)

It actually amazes me the variation in doom track rendering, go from real muted soft cymbals to full on "More cowbell" mode on some others. TINK TINK TINK TINK

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

It sounds like a Sound Canvas to me, quite possibly with some mastering done to make the drums sound more realistic. Is it a digital file on the CD?

The guitars are almost certainly a SC of some variety.

It's the 1998 SCC1-rendered MP2, pulled off this old site

Shame that the links to the midi files are dead... 🙁

The MIDI downloads work fine for me, but Chrome blocks them because they are insecure, so you have to do each one individually or lower the security settings.

Or use https://web.archive.org/web/20210406143109/ht … /info/music.php

Or open each file link a new window (new tab won't work in my version of Chrome) and change http to https in URL . HTTPS actually works for the files, so it would just be a question of letting the site admin know that links should be updated to HTTPS and everything would work without any hassle/workaround . EDIT : Or open the file link in a new window and click refresh (Reload this page) .
