I have mono sound from my Aureal Vortex 2 from the Duke Nukem 3D setup from within Windows. This is as tested with the VXD drivers. When the sound effects test runs, I hear both left and right channels from both speakers simultaneously.

Stereo works fine from my Audigy, so it's not the speakers.

Can anyone confirm?

Using the exact same set of hardware and drivers, I get left and right channels working properly in a DOS window on Windows ME. But swapping to a drive with Windows 98, it's mono. Stereo works as expected under pure DOS.

This is very odd. I don't see what changing the operating system would have anything to do with it.

You are using the Sound Blaster Pro option in Duke3D not Sound Blaster 16 right?

Wait doesnt the SB16 offer Stereo aswell?

Yes, but the SB16 isn't compatible with SBPro and vice versa (not really a big deal but it is something to take into account when configuring the sound card). The Aureal Vortex 2 only supports SBPro as Kahenraz said.

It does. Only for SB16 cards.
