Any suggestion what Soundblaster i should choose?
I think about a SB16 but what model? I not really want a AWE. But above the Pro 2.
Good OPL3, and midi would be nice. And it should be ISA because no more pci slots left 😀.

Sound Blaster 16. Though keep in mind that depending on the model / DSP version, you will potentially encounter different types of issues. I'd recommend looking at this list when selecting any Creative Labs card: Sound Blaster: From best to worst

Personally my pick for a system intended for that era (assuming mid 90s), I'd probably just go for an AWE64. I currently have a similar build with a combination of a GUS Extreme and AWE64. The latter provides SoundBlaster 16 and AWE32 compatibility, while the former covers GUS Classic and SB Pro. Though admittedly I'm not fussed about genuine OPL, since by that era of gaming FM synthesis was less relevant. By that point audio was mostly digitally recorded including music.

Pentium 4 Multi-OS Build
486 DX4-100 with 6 sound cards
486 DX-33 with 5 sound cards

CT2230 or CT2290 are the nicest SB16's I've personally come across, but as always it's important to set the mixer up right for the best results, and use line-out 👍

I steer clear of the Vibras because of hanging notes and the simplified mixer - from memory you can't alter the gain, which is a loss (pun intended)
