Dear group,

Unfortunately, I have major problems when starting up my Retro Dos computer.

I am using an OPTi 82c929 or OPTi 82c924 card. This has an IDE interface. I would like to connect an IDE CDROM (Mitsumi FX400, tested on other IDE ports) to this. Unfortunately this does not work. I ran the setup from JKnipperts, but unfortunately the generic driver from e.g. OAK cannot find the CDROM.

I also don't understand how the JKnipperts software can make the CDROM work, since it works in the Autoexec.bat and I have to load my CD-ROM driver much earlier in the Config.sys.

Can someone help me with this topic?

Kind regards and thank you, Rock

Phils got some resources of this card on his page
https://www.philscomputerlab.com/82c929a.html

page 12(14 of the pdf) of this manual is the relevant part
https://www.philscomputerlab.com/uploads/3/7/ … 9_mad16_pro.pdf

it says running sndinit from the driver package also on Phils site will set up the interface but in short you'll need to have a line similar to the below in config.sys to enable the sound cards IDE interface
DEVICE=C:\Sound16\CDSETUP.SYS /T:M /P:340 /I:10 /D:X
