Hello !
I have numerous old computers and one of these is a DOS/Windows 95/Windows 98 PC.
I tried to run the Heaven Seven demo but, that's impossible with my S3 Virge DX. The demo sent me a "VESA error" message.
It's ok with a Matrox Mystique 220, or an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro. It's ok also on my MisterFPGA AO486 core...
So, what's wrong with the S3 Virge DX on this demo ? The S3 Virge DX seems to be a good choice for DOS, am I wrong with that ?
If someone can explain me... I'm searching for the minimum specs to run this demo but I didn't find anything (only the GUS for the sound 😉)

Thank you !

Your graphics card bios probably supports only VESA 1.2 standard. But this is no problem 😀
Just run s3vbe 2.0 before demo (from here): http://www.mediafire.com/file/2it5n2iejkj/s3vbe318.zip
It will stay resident in memory. You can read more about this topic here: VESA Fix Utility Listing (for old video cards)

About demo requirements - it also needs MMX capable procesor (if I remember correctly).

@zyga64
Perfect ! With the file for this update to vesa 2.0 « on the fly », Heaven Seven runs perfectly well 😉 Thank you !
