Doing some re-arranging of parts / video cards in some of my retro setups and wanted some opinions on which to put in my Tualitin 1.4 PIII machine - Voodoo3 or Ti4600? Have the GeForce in it now, and it seems fine, but not sure if the Voodoo3 3000 would be better for the Processor as the Ti4600 may be too much card for that proc and not using it to its full potential....

It depends more on what will you be running. If Glide games, then some Voodoo. If DirectX/OGL then any other faster will be better. Even if CPU is the bottleneck you can use higher resolutions or AA with to compensate. You can't do that with Voodoo. Some say V3 won't scale much with cpu over 500MHz.

V3 for up to 2000. After that any other is better.

Ti4600 is perfect for the PIII-S 1400. Keep in mind that the full-fat Tualatin-512 is significantly faster than any Coppermine, and even a fair bit faster than Tualatin-256.

Plus, PIII-S 1400 and GeForce4 were released within a month of each other. Can't top that kind of period correctness!
