I acquired a CRT monitor yesterday for my nostalgic XP rig. CRTs are really hard to find so I was glad to secure one. However, after using it for a while, it's now making a high-pitched whine, that seems to have gotten slightly louder, that comes and goes. Turning the monitor off and back on or pressing the degauss button sometimes helps, but it comes back. It's an AOC 7Elr, no mfr date but probably from late 90s/VERY early 2000s. Came out of a warehouse, an extremely dusty environment. The whine is under 16 KHz. I recently began running it at 60 instead of 70 hertz, so would this be the cause?
Any advice is appreciated.
