The card used to work fine. Had a few lockups in the system it was running in before I pulled the card.

Now part of the Xilinx Spartan 6 FPGA overheats straight away on boot and is burning the FPGA plastic like cover if left on for more then 10 seconds.

Just wondered if someone else ever had a silmilar issue.
Was lucky to find this one and a bit gutted if it's busted.

Tested with multiple known good PSUs, two motherboards.

Will post pics later, no damage visible or touching IC legs.

overheats straight away

May indicate damage from static/short circuit.

I think you could be right, I remember getting static once when unplugging the card from a Radeon 9550 output. Although it kept working fine for sometime after.

I read some development boards with the Spartan 6 have had the same issue, reprogramming worked for them.
