Several days ago I had my 775 system down in XP for the hard drive cloning and ran 3dmark for a little bit.

2001se, bear in mind this is a ddr2 system.

Larger: http://www.outfoxed.net/775-water/Lc5408@3.75 … 00_Mem-2670.jpg

Sorry for the long URL's, I have rather poor memory and have to describe my screenshots good so I can find em later.

I can do 2003 later in win7 x64 where it has SLI, and 2006, I know both run full speed in win7, they're newer benchmarks.

So like you suggested, yes this system is much faster at 2001se in windows XP. I used XP-64 by the way.

My completely unexplainable desire to build a machine from all the left over bits of junk that any sane person would have put in the bin!Amazingly it's the first time I have gotten this MSI VIA PM266 board to run stably, match junk with junk for the win? 🤣 Anyway it has been clumping along happily for the last week!

That video card is a bit of disgrace even for that system though, find a Geforce FX 5200 and run the Doom 3 benchmark 😀

4930K @ 4.5GHz and a GTX 970. I think I'm going to keep it at 4.5GHz, as it doesn't seem to need much additional voltage and is still running relatively cool.

This Gigabyte P35 board seems slower in 3dmark 2001 with the GTX 580 compared to the GTX 285, with the Nforce 780i it was the other way around.

Jesus christ man!
I'm not gonna lie, it kind of bothers me that your Core 2 is scoring nearly as high as my rig, even with the memory overclocked to 2400MHz.

I am SO close to installing my GTX 670 just so I can temporarily run WinXP and distance myself from that old ass Core 2 of yours. 🤣

On the top of this page kithylin posted a result with his socket 771/775 mod Xeon running at 3750 MHz, I thought that I would match those settings with a Q6700 to se how it performes.

I do not think I own a GTX 260 but I do own a 8800 GTX. (The 3:5 mem divider isnt the broken 400 strap one, Im using the 200 strap.)
Q67003750P5E34GBDDR3.jpg

A GTX 470 gets a higher score but not by much.
af4Q67003750P5E34GBDDR3.jpg

The GTX 580.
886Q67003750P5E34GBDDR3.jpg

Last the GTX 580 with the CPU at 4050 MHz, the score would perhaps be a bit higher with higher memory speed but this was with the terrible release BIOS.

Interesting results. Difficult to tell if the different CPU's are any faster one over the other. Maybe if you would like we could compare a cpu-only benchmark sometime, like wprime, just for curiosity to see how the different architectures compare.

EDIT: I'll be retiring my pair of water cooled 470's that run at 850 core speed out of my big i7 gaming machine in a couple weeks. I plan to ultimately get them in to this 775 tower with the xeon, but it'll be another 3-5 months for that to buy some extra water cooling parts and more fans. Also some day I would like to get the X5470 chip for 775 machine and try to get it up around 4.4 ghz or higher, maybe 4.6 or more if it'll do it.

I finally have the Ultimate PIII rig: overclocked Tualatin, 2GB of DDR memory, and an overclocked 6800GT. It was worth the wait!

Socket 939 Opteron 185 @ 3.13GHz with a GTX 560. I've given up on trying to hit 50K with this machine, it just cannot do it. Not that 47.5k is a bad score for a S939 machine. 😀

At least I know 939 can go higher. Thanks for fueling my little desire to continue pushing my 939 machine further some day in the future 😀

Just to make Steve happy 😁

A few more Core 2 duo scores, this time with an E8600 cooled by a Thermalright Ultra-120.

I think this could be a new personal best with the Geforce 8800 GTX

The Geforce GTX 580 overclocked. The overclock gave nothing, I just saved the wrong screenshot.

The GTX 285 beats the GTX 580 in 3dmark 2001 with this system, with a Nforce 780i system it was the other way around.

OK that does it. 😈
Another 100MHz, another 2300 points. Put that in your Socket 775 and smoke it. (Actually, don't, because that will force me to try and get WinXP running on this thing, which I kind of don't want to do.)

This is just a temporary run. Even though these CPUs can easily handle 1.3v, I'd much rather run it at a nice, comfy 4.5GHz/1.25v.

Nice score and no worries!

The E8600 is back in its box, perhaps I will do that water cooled 5 GHz run with an overclocked GTX 285 for ~95000 points sometime in the future though. This E8600 is not a great chip as it needs 1.6V load voltage for 5GHz benchmark stability, its a bit much for a 45 um chip without at least water cooling.

I looped 3DMark 2001SE for a couple of days on a system I'm stress testing, I came back and I saw an error message from 3DMark that said something like "could not initialize 3D accelerator - out of memory exception"...

The system is completely stable and I have it running more than 24 hours of Prime95 now. I'm almost positive this has completely to do with the app. Can anyone confirm?

3DMark01 can be quite sensitive to any running background processes. I remember it used to "lose focus" all the time back in the Win98 days whenever any background process kicked in. So yeah, I'd blame the benchmark and not the hardware, especially since it's stable in Prime95.

My latest dumpster find: a complete LGA775 system. It even came with a hard drive and fresh install of Windows 7. And even better, the previous owner overclocked it! The Core 2 Duo e6600 was running at a nice 3GHz on a 1333MHz FSB.

Complete specs as found:
Asus P5N-E SLI motherboard (nForce 650i SLI chipset)
Core 2 Duo e6600, overclocked to 3GHz/1333FSB by previous owner. Stock voltage and Intel HSF.
4GB DDR2-667 CL4 memory, dual-channel.
BFG GeForce 8600GT 512MB GDDR3, slightly overclocked.
Ultra case, Corsair CX500 PSU
Windows 7 x86 SP1

The score is a little lower than I would have expected, although it still beats my 3.13GHz Opteron/GTX 560 by a hair (29,492 under Win7)

Couple of more runs on "project dustbin" the Celeron D 2.4 and VIAPM266 machine I posted above with the TNT2 M64. This time with a Matrox G450 PCI 32mb card & then a Creative Labs Geforce 2Ti 64mb AGP. The matrox was staggeringly slow, often not making 1fps. In case you can't be bothered to scroll up and find the TNT2 M64 score it was 788.
