To my knowledge, I've never heard of an "official" Voodoo3 MAC card, but I believe 3DFX did release MAC drivers for the V3 PCI but that required flashing of the card's ROM as well.

EDIT:

Well the card i have is a VillageTronic MP860 voodoo3 and it's a mac card (and sold as that). It looks very different compared to a normal v3. Mine does not have a heatsink and only half the ram chips (mac velocity?)
Just can't seem to find any pictures about the box.

I did find pictures of voodoo2 mac versions, it is amazing how much variation of cards were on the market. A life is too short to find them all 🤣

Yes, VillageTronic Voodoo3 are the only V3 for MAC (to my knowledge). There are three variants - MP760 (143 MHz, 8MB), MP860 (143 MHz, 16 MB), MP960 (166 MHz, 16 MB). I have never seen the box either - perhaps it was sold only as an OEM?

Speaking of MAC... does anyone here own a MAC Banshee? They seems to be very rare as well.

I was very lucky to find this one on local auction site few years ago. There were actually two pieces - one of them is mine and another czech collector owns the second.

Very cool - never knew 3DFX had MAC stuff before the 4500. I should've checked here: http://www.thedodgegarage.com/3dfx/mac.htm

Nope, don't have a banshee mac and never seen one for sale here.

I didn't look for the mac v3, i just saw the card and it was different so i bought it. Was a bit bummed to find out it didn't work. Learned from vogons what the card was! That's why it doesn't work on a pc ofcourse.
The card looks like the mp860 but has no ram chips on the front and only 4 on the back and it has no heatsink. the 3dfx logo on the chip is undamaged and the chip very clean so i don't know if there ever was a heatsink glued on or not.

Speaking of models that are not found other than one place.

I have found one of these Compaq V3 cards. It's a V3-3500 without any special vga-out, as the 3500-TV.
Just a normal VGA output. So yeah... No need for any dongle.
The downside of this card is that it has no tv-tuner, wich is not that bad anyway, as we only have digital
tv here in our country. (I tend to look at it, as a factory-OC'ed 3000 model)

I have only seen this, being sold from USA, and as I understand it. This model is one of those cards
that would be shipped directly to a big manufactor. Compaq in this case.
The cards never ever came in a box. I recieved it in an antistatic and factory sealed bag.
Wich then again, tells me that this card was not intended to be sold in shop.

Well.... It came from USA, and at one point the seller had over 100 of these. So he might have snatched
up a big pile of them from somewere. I have two of them, as the first he shipped to me has a defect.
It will only give image on the screen, when it is in an AGP-Pro socket.
Anything AGPx2 or Universal-AGP will not give any picture at all. (The card is getting warm in all board)

I can't but think that these "special manufactor" editions of Voodoo cards are somehow rare.
If not, then they are not that common.

Do any of all here on Vogons, own one of those motherboards with onboard Voodoo?

Don't eat stuff off a 15 year old never cleaned cpu cooler.
Those cakes make you sick....

I had the packard bell board with onboard 8mb voodoo3. It worked but i didn't like it and tossed it out. Needed a recap anyway. Maybe i should have kept it but never missed it.

Now in the netherlands there is a complete set for sale, so packard bell 3dfx tower, original monitor and keyboard. Looks in nice shape but i'm not keen on it.

Actually I like this board, integrated Voodoo3 is cool. 😎 Thats why I have three MS-6168. One of them is recaped, rest serve only as a backup - they work but capacitors are in bad shape. Too bad none of them is 16MB version (yes, they exist).

Another rare one that wasn't too uncommon on eBay several years ago but is now - there was a batch of Daytona Voodoo4's sold to IBM, basically quasi-prototypes sold to make a few bucks before they folded.

Good score! I knew you would start searching 🤣

Looking forward to see pictures, and would like to know if there is anything different about the card itself so i hope you didn't find a sealed one 😎
