Could be a really nice idea! makes it easier, my solution for now is a fat wire between 3.3V from PSU to the closest capacitor, whilst also massively increasing the capacity of it + adding a big fat ceramic cap inbetween 😀

Sadly this is the most I can do, if I increase GPU core / mem by even one single MHz it starts artifacting. No 5400 for me I guess 🙁

Congrats! Welcome to the 5k club

Fantastic result, I guess it's a K6-III+ right?
Please tell us more about your system specs.
What driver version are you using on your GF3? Det. 7.76 seems to work very well, I have seen a 3DMark2000 result with 5032 3D marks on a K6-III+ @720 MHz.

You are the current world record holder! You are the person behind my inspiration!
Not much to add on the info.

Ali 1.82
Win98SE

7.76 Note that 7.58 is the fastest.

Im not sure it always is the fastest drivers. I think it depends on the graphics card you are using, and the combination of AGP driver. I am using the ALI AGP 1.9 driver. (aliagp19.exe).

My Asus P5A 1.04 with my K6-3+ 400@616mhz with the 7.76 driver is faster (5000 3dmark200 points) then the 7.58 driver when using a GF2 Ti.

A friend of mine has a P5A and a Gf2mx. On his system the 8.05 driver is faster then the 7.76 driver on his Gf2mx card. 200 points faster.

After hearing this I tried the both 8.05 and 7.58, and found out that 7.76 is the fastest on my GF2 Ti card.
I lost around 70 points when using both the 8.05 and the 7.58 driver.

My conclusion is that we need to try it out for our selves. The boards are so picky with the driver combinations.

BTW. Yesterday I broke 2199 points in 3dmark2000 with my Pentium 233mmx cpu in this thread.
Re: Pentium MMX 233 aiming for the stars!

I used my the same machine as I did in this thread. I bet others can do the same and easily beat my score.

Does anyone know if you can add gf4 Ti 4200 to the 28.32 drivers? They already have support for 4400 and 4600 cards just not the Ti 4200.

Should be fine. I’ve modded the 31.40xx using the Inf method to support my Ti4800SE (earliest official that I have with Ti4800/SE support is 41.09).

The nVidia control panel might error with an unknown card, and you’ll have to install the driver manually, but you can keep using RivaTuner to tweak settings and clockspeeds.

I tried editing the ini file. It installed fine but after restarting I get a out of frequency range error.

Maybe it could be solved my flashing the GPU BIOS with lower clocks matching Geforce 3 clocks, and then using Powerstrip to restore the clocks when windows loads?
I am not saying that it is a good workaround, but a workaround, a workaround that sucks like h_l when you want to use the card in another computer.

Sorry to highjack the thread. But I just wanted to share something

We have just started a new tweaking competition

Tweak Quake2 and win a 3DFX Voodoo2 3D accelerator card

U8OpJp7.png

The crasy fast K6-III+ systems in this thread are good candidates for this competition.

Hey all,

I’m having a little trouble trying to get my new setup going

Freeway ultra mvp3
K6-3+ 600
Windows ME

Problem is my video card and driver.

I first tried to get my radeon 9800 pro to work which had worked on this setup in the past.

It shows that I forgot the power plug on the card but I did not.. ideas?

Second attempt

Hercules prophet geforce 3 ti 500

No post

Third attempt

Gainward geforce 3 ti 500

Boots, but can’t get 7.58 modded or 7.65 driver to work.

Any ideas?

You can not use 7.58 on Ti500. Needs to be 7.76.
Swap your PSU maybe, also try the ram it always gives me a problem.

Ram is passing stability tests.

System seems stable, but windows just won’t accept the driver…?

What card do I select when force installing 7.76?
Ti500 or something else?

Just to make sure I am trying the right one anyone mind dropping a link to one they know works? (That is the fastest) or even better upoaded in a zip?

I am trying ones from this thread preciously linked and uploaded.

Those are fairly late and power hungry AGP cards you are trying to run on a fairly ancient (and poor) AGP implementation. The cards may be having problems running at 2x or drawing enough power from the 5V (which may not even be a PSU problem, just a power draw level the motherboard was not equipped to deal with maybe..)

I ran this config before. It worked. Idk why this time around it isn’t happy maybe psu, maybe card. Idk, but this mobo and card have played well together in the past.

IIRC the 7.76 was the first driver to support the GeForce 3; there are versions of the driver where people have edited in later GeForce 3 cards, or you can force install it as a GeForce 3.

Hello, all. I’m building new board for 5k challenge. This is Tekram MVP3 mobo with 1mb of 4ns cache. Currently disabled. I run this board @ 133Mhz of system bus and 600 MHz of stable CPU clock of my K6-3+ CPU. Got ~4200 @ 600MHz with GF3Ti200/128mb , no overclocking yet. I need to get working 140Mhz of system bus, which is unreachable for now due to some software issues. Max is 150. Photo with 667 MHz. It does not lock Win98se completely, but isn’t working properly even at 2.6v overvoltage. Photo contains Voodo4 4500 PCI , which gave only ~1900 points.

I did not know there is an MVP3 board that goes up to 150fsb, thought its only ASUS that can do that.
Cache not working at 133fsb?

The data sheet says the clock synthesizer can go up to 150 MHz . But, I can’t set 140 and above. I can only set what is below bios settings and back . Bios can select up to 133 . The cache module was replaced from 512k to 1M, but I can’t figure out how to make it work. It detects 1024 but can’t go further than a summary screen with cache on at any frequency. I think I have enough skill to add 140 and 150 MHz options in bios. They go through I2C bus.
