Tried to do something about bad graphics cards - entry episode must be about famous S3 ViRGE. So if you thinking about buying one, rather watch this video. It might save you some money 🤣

Matrox - can try, but there's a lot much worse cards in wild....
3D Graphic Blaster - maybe in my dreams....don't like idea spending so much many to get one (and supported games)
Geforce FX5200 - isnt so bad, just only slow.... maybe 32bit edition....
Ati Rage - in plan, will be for sure
Savage 3D - a lot of other chips from S3 needs to be done 1st. Savage 3D is 1st usefull from S3, but there are a lot freezes sometimes....
any PowerVR card - not a chance, they were not sold in my area and they are really expensive....don't have single one (except Kyro II).

You have earned yourself a subscriber! That was a very well put together video with great side by side footage. Interested to see what other graphic cards you have in store, especially after seeing that you consider the G100 to be nowhere close to the ones you want to test 😁.

Great video, enjoyed that, the speech synthesis made it really unique and added to the retrp computer feel. 😀

How about:
Trident 3D Image
Cirrus Logic Laguna.
Chromatic MPACT2.
Matrox Mystique.

All dreadful in their own interesting ways! 😉

Best,
Chris

How long is the script? I'd be willing to help out if you'd like!

That was a good watch! I really liked the side-by-side comparisons 😀
Though if it is compatible to DOS, doesn't it deserve at least 2 stars instead of 1? 😜
This way you may have to give some cards negative amounts of stars somewhere down the road 😁

Btw, nobody mentioning dat SiS 6326 Graphics Card of Pure Awesomeness? 😢

Out of what has been suggested so far isn't the SIS 6326 the best one? 😉

Will give me a good laugh if I see it get more than a single star 😁

(btw, you really think SiS6326 is better than any FX5200 64-bit? SiS6326 even had trouble drawing windows in XP (it was something like that), so we ended up tweaking with NLite so it at least appeared to not be terribly slow 😁)

That was awesome. I really enjoyed the warning in the opening of the video. 🤣. And the voice is fine. I do see it as sounding a bit retro, but it's also slightly creepy, like I'm watching some top secret government internal video.

Here are my nominees:
Millennium I and II
Mystique
Intel i740
ATI Rage IIC (this card goes neck-and-neck with the Virge)

The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't know.

@ clueless1 I think the speech synth was modeled after Edward Woodward, Wicker Man. 😉

@Tetrium, OK yes, the FX5200 is the "best" worse card listed so far 😉 But to be fair, 6326 can run Unreal, out of the budget chips I reckon it's the best. better than the S3 Trio 3D & ATi rage II of the time, especially if we figure in price. Compatibility is pretty good, good video playback too.
The SiS 315 that came next is actually a pretty decent performer, about comparable to a GF2 MX, so better than any of the other cheap chipset makers did with possible exception of Trident with the 3DBlade(I do have a turbo version of this card on AGP bus, but it's such a finicky bastard I haven't run many tests).
Be interested to see comparison between the SiS 315 & S3 Savage 4, in fact that might well be the next set of tests I run, 3D Blade too if I can get the bugger to behave! 😉

Wanted to do Matrox Mystique, but seems to be incompactible with mine recording card (video dropouts, no problems with connected monitor), so will do little faster Mystique 220. But have one problem - can't find anywhere Techland MiniGL driver for Matrox. Wanted to try record GLQuake 1 in action... So if someone have that MiniGL, can you sent it to me, or upload somewhere?
