Kinda surprised to see this card netting only 30fps average under 800x600 high settings. Using nvidia drivers 12.41, before that was using diamond
drivers v770_w98x_368 which scored about the same. Does anyone know if there other drivers that would fare better or is this just the limitation
of d3d and the game? I imagine putting in V2 SLI it would surpass the viper in glide mode? My system is a P3 850 512 ram win98 dx8 if that helps.

That score seems a bit low. Are you using vsync with a 60hz display perhaps?

60hz display yes, I'll have to check on vsync.

Well, it's much less about glide optimization and more about Tim learning Direct3D. Unreal wasn't always fully glide optimized either (and regressed some visuals in the glide driver in some patches as well)

Don't forget to look into the advanced options for Direct3D (can quickly get there by typing 'preferences' in the console)

I'd also suggest cwdonhal's renderers, but for Unreal, there's a bit of a certain community monopoly with them behind cruft patch installers...

Thanks, didn't know about getting to advanced options thru the console. Changed to the 30.82 nvidia drivers just to see, not much diff just 3-4 fps tops.

How hard is it to overclock this card? Have rivatuner installed but haven't tried it out yet. Is there a "hidden" setting somewhere in the nvidia drivers
panel where you can overclock it?

If you want to go directly through the drivers, you can enable coolbits via a registry setting.

To gain access to core and memory overclocking utilities, simply run Window's registry editor (regedit) and perform the following steps:

1. Open the key, [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\] by navigating down to it in the left hand pane.
2. Add a new key named "NVTweak".
3. Go under this new key and add a new DWORD value with the name "CoolBits".
4. Double click on CoolBits in the right hand pane and set the value to 3 with a hexadecimal base.
5. Reboot

Rivatuner will work fine though.

Thanks Cyclone3D, will try it out!

Went into advanced options via console and wow! a lot of options here! Anyways set agp textures to on or yes and
cut down to 16bit, medium details so now I'm getting 40fps.

Decided to put back in my V2 SLI to compare and they're getting around 85fps same settings, didn't expect that big of difference.

Does anyone know if you can downclock the V2's to stock speed with the fast voodoo drivers and how?

The Fast Voodoo drivers should include a overclocking display tab you can install. Should be in Tools\Tweaker.

Yeah I found it, thanks!
