Hello everyone,

I have to "Rage II" Ati cards...

An ATI RAGE II+DVD and a ATI264VT4.. both with 4MB... the first dated 1996 and the second 1998..

I know none of them are great.. but witch one can be considered better ?

i'm confused... is the ATI264VT4 a RAGEIIc ???

this page does explain something but i still dont know what card is best... (p200mmx, win98, SB32)

the rageIIc should be a liitle bit better, but both are crappy 3d cards, 2d and dos should be good
to be really sure you should do some benchmarks

That chips is used on Mach64 VT4 PCI cards. They are basically 2D cards with added partial 3D implementations.
The Rage I/II cores are partially based on the Mach64 core. The 3D support is much better than Mach64 VT4 but still not ideal. 😉
There are Rage II cards with a VGA BIOS EEPROM labelled "PCI MACH64[...]" but those are probably simply older EEPROMS that have been repurposed.
