Have got a Voodoo 2 control panel problem.

The drivers i have testest:
- reference voodoo2 driver 3.02.02 (D3D Driver 4.12, GLIDE driver 2.56)
- 3rd party: FastVoodoo2 4.6
- official creative driver (with directx driver 2.16 and GLIDE driver 2.50 RC1)
- the official patch to creative driver (with directx driver 2.18 and GLIDE driver 2.56)

The error seems to be the same:

First i have to change the memory range of the voodoo2, because there is a conflict to the AGP card.
Original: 00000000 - 00FFFFFF
--> Then windows crash or reboot after comes to the desktop.
Have change it to a further number, for example:
Modified: 01000000 - 01FFFFFF

With the original creative drivers there is the following error when i start the screen property:

Then there is the voodoo 2 tab, but no "System Info" is available:

If i install the reference driver 3.02.02 or the fast voodoo2 4.6, then the error message does not appear, but then there is no control panel available anymore:

How do you define "the voodoo2 does actually work"?

After the Win98 installation, i have installed first the nvidia driver 12.41.
Then later the Voodoo2 drivers. Maybe i have installed direct x 7.0 later or before, i do not know anymore.

For a game test, i have selected Tomb Raider.
At first, it was directly using Dirext X, so it uses primary the Geforce AGP card.

I have found out, that Tomb Raider needs a 3dfx patch. It don't work 100%. Until the menu it's OK, but when i start the training for example the screen still remains black.
Now i have also seen, that it's for the GoG version, didn't see that. Because i have the standard or original version, i have found another patch.
Now i can start the modified .exe

How can i see that it really uses the glide API?

See also the figures of the properties.

That question corresponds to "no". You never had the card running, so it most likely does not work at all.

Check for bent pins on the chips. After that, try getting a game to run in pure DOS mode. There are several DOS games that had Voodoo2 patches.

Keep in mind that the V2 only kicks into full operation once it is needed and you are starting a 3dfx application. Until then it is not utilized. The screen remaining black once the game starts and the 3dfx mode kicks in *could* be a sign of the card not operating correctly.

I don't see any bent pins on the chips.

Have also checked a GTA3dfx demo version.
According to this, there can be a message "What 3dfx card?" https://thandor.net/driver/8

And after i have made the sound settings and want to start game... it also shows "What 3dfx card?" 😢
