VOGONS

Hi, I have a cl-gd5446 pretty much like this one. You will notice the 26 pins male connector on the upper left of the picture, correct me if I'm wrong but I've always called that a vesa connector. I never was really sure what it is, but I guess it's an output of the video signal since some capture and mpeg acceleration card connect there to get the normal video signal. So I assume it's an output pretty much like the standard vga blue connector we all know.

My goal is to hook a component/composite output from it, so I could see that computer from a monitor that only support that signal on PiP when the KVM switch focus on another computer. I have difficulty finding out the pinout of that connector maybe because I'm not searching for the good name ?

Any help with my project would be much appreciated.

Edit: http://rtfm.vtt.net/pinouts/data/VesaFeature_ … inout.shtml.htm is one variant but I believe there are multiple connectors sharing the same layout (not necessarily pinout).

Thanks Doornkaat for your quick reply, I found that wikipedia article but I was in the impression it was something else. Searching about feature connector I can find very interesting information already https://www.epanorama.net/documents/pc/vga_feature.html. So I was half-misguided, the feature connector is made by vesa, but it's a bit too generic to call it just that. I'm not sure I can use that to make a composite/component output, even monochromatic.

Sorry, the short answer wasn't meant condescending. I simply thought the Wikipedia article was the best pointer.

I don't have much knowledge about the feature connector(s?) but I had a similar idea once and pretty quickly got the feeling the connector is more of a relic and not suitable for such projects. 😅

I admit I found it a bit dry but the fact is you confirmed the name of this connector and this allowed me to precise my research. So I'm grateful you did so.
