Hi guys,
I got a new Voodoo 2 12 MB card.
I'm using it together with a Matrox g200 AGP.
Voodoo drivers: FastVoodoo 2.4.6
Motherboard: DFI p2xbl, rev D
CPU: Pentium 2 400 MHz
Mouse: Logitech MX518, connected via PS/2

The problem is that my mouse doesn't work/work properly in Glide games.
Tested with:
Quake 2: no mouse input recognized
Diablo 2: no mouse input recognized
Star Wars Jedi Knight Dark Forces II: mouse works, but there are severe system freezes (for a second or so) once in a while.

The mouse works with Diablo 2 in Direct3D mode and with Quake 2 in software mode.

I haven't done any additional troubleshooting so far (different drivers, changing PCI slots, changing the memory address of the Voodoo card, trying with another primary VGA card ...)

I was just wondering if anyone else has encountered this before and if there is a known fix.

Thanks.

1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click System.
3. On the Performance tab, click Graphics.
4. Move the Hardware Acceleration slider one notch to remove mouse hardware acceleration.

Try using regular Voodoo drivers as the "fast" ones overclock the card. Maybe causing funky sh*t.

Cheers

@The Serpent Rider, trying the mouse via USB didn't help. After the mouse was up and working, the PC showed the "found new hardware" dialog for the mouse when I started a Diablo II game (after the game's main menu, before the game loaded).
Guess there are too many demons inside this PC; installing a fresh copy of Windows 98 SE now ... 😀

Even after a fresh install, things stayed the same.
Now, I installed MouseWare 9.80 and hooked up my mx510 via USB; works like a charm.

Until now, I've always used the MX518 via PS/2 with my retro PCs, no problems.
Why the mouse works fine in Windows with this particular board, but fails to show up/keeps freezing the PC in Glide games, is beyond me ...
