VOGONS

Hi, guys!

I recently came across a Diamond Multimedia Voodoo 2 8mb and I'm struggling to make it work under Windows XP SP3 in an Athlon XP build. The drivers (FastVoodoo2 4.0 XP Gold Edition) installed fine and the card gets detected under the sound, video and game tabs in Device Manager.

The problem is that I get no video output at all from the Voodoo 2. It seems that the PC refuses to switch the video signal to the Voodoo 2. In Unreal Tournament, for example, if I select Glide Mode, my other video card (GeForce 4 MX) continues to try and render the game, with all sorts of graphical glitches, of course. On the Voodoo 2, there's just no video output. All the 3dfx demos result in a memory related error...

I noticed that the C145 capacitor is missing on the back of the card. Could that be the reason for this behaviour?

Any tips you could give me? I really have zero experience with 3dfx cards.

Thank you!!

Sorry to bother you, guys!

Just found out it was a glitch related to glide3x.dll.

Applied the fix available
here (http://www.3dfxzone.it/enboard/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=644) and now it works 100%.

Yay!
