I had this thing in my stash for quite a while now. It's a useful card for me, fairly fast for PCI, but this specimen does not work. The most obvious physical issue I see is a missing SMD component near one of the RAM chips.

This looks like it should be a capacitor. Alas, based on this picture of an undamaged board, it looks like it's a capacitor for sure..

So.. Is this a bypass/filter cap? Can I get away with just using 100nF here blindly? Any suggestions?

I have one of these cards. I think mine is a Diamond, I remember that is has a red PCB and active cooling. I will try and remember to look at it and see if is different or same when I get home. If i can find it.
I can't much help with the specifics of values of caps etc as I am not that learned as many of the members here.

I also have this card but can have a look not before end of next week...
Comparing the layout around the other RAMs it is (was) a cap.
100nF is fine for a decoupling.
However, I doubt this will be the reason for the card not working. It should run even without it.

I replaced the broken cap with a 100nF 16V 0805 and the card now POSTs 😀 Thanks.
