Hi,

I have a IBM PS/2 Model 70 and it came with a IBM 8514/a incl. the memory daughter board.

Weirdly this computer does not have the facility to connect to the graphics adapters video passthrough port which I didn't see at the time.
BUT I used the VGA output of that card to connect it to my IBM 8513002 PS/2 Color Display and it worked perfectly fine.
Sometimes when switching between DOS and Windows 3.11 it lost sync though and I had to restart the monitor.

Couple of days ago I pulled the machine out from the cupboard to use it again and I didn't get any picture from the 8514/a VGA port, only from the onboard one.
That's when I read that the 8514/a is not supposed to be displaying any text on its own and would use the onboard graphics through the passthrough connector of the card which was never connected...

What happened here?
Did I kill the card by making it do something it was never meant to do?

Would be nice if someone could enlighten me.
Accoring to ebay this seems to be a pretty rare piece of hardware (since I didn't find any listings on ebay germany even in the past)
