I did not use a thermocouple, I used an IR gun (a pretty good and accurate one, actually), and IIRC, I got ~70 degrees for the FBI chip of a Diamond Monster Voodoo 1 after 30 - 60 minutes of running Unreal Gold timedemo 1.
With the Voodoo 2 (also the FBI chip), I measured 80+ degrees.

I should mention that these measurements were done on an open test bench. I couldn't tell you what the actual room temperature was when I performed these tests, but I can tell you that my room is never hotter than 23 degrees, because I can't stand it (I also live near the mountains, so I obviously prefer cool temps 😁 ).

All in all, I prefer to keep these chips at 60 degrees or less, which is surprisingly difficult to do inside a period correct case.
