MSI MS-6195. So same manufacturer and chipset even

Couple of runs with the Quadro FX 3000. Disappointed by the performance a little. Also tried a Radeon 9700, but the performance was slightly lower (around 10%). If I had any overclocking at all on this board I think I could see a notable increase from the memory and bus bandwidth.
3DMark2000, Forceware 56.64, DX7a
3DMark2001SE, Forceware 56.64, DX8.1b
So it turns out that I don't appear to have DMA mode enabled, and the drive doesn't even have the tick box present in device manager. That would go some way to explaining the sluggish performance felt in general use.
No amount of installing various AMD 756 EIDE drivers makes an difference, and there doesn't appear to be any option in the BIOS to turn BUS Mastering/DMA on or off, it should just be on.
Installing Directx 8.1 killed my 2K benchmark by 300 points.
Would anybody be interested in prizes for top finishers? I have 3 Steam games from Humble Bundle that I'd like to give away by clicking the "Gift to a friend" button.
They could go to the top finisher for 3dMark2000, the top finisher for 3dMark2001, and the person with the highest combined score.
That could be cool. Would need to set a finish date for the prizes.

How about October 30, 2023 at 11:00 AM UTC? My reasoning:
That works. Its really up to you. You're the one with the prizes.
Then October 30, 2023 at 11:00 AM UTC it is!
Geforce 2 Ultra doesn't make a huge difference at these clock speeds. Clock speed is the king.
You guys need some motherboards with some overclocking options. I was hoping for a battle! I'm finding out that a higher bus speed is important. I got a 1GHz on Monday. It only lets me clock it to 1070 same as my 900. I score more with my 900 overclocked to 1070 because I have a higher bus speed for the memory. 119x9 vs 107x10.
Indeed. Memory and bus bandwidth are key. Unfortunately even though I’ve modded the BIOS of my MS6191 to allow changing the FSB, the system won’t boot at the next option above 100MHz (120MHz), so I’ve run out of ideas.
I can’t find a better Slot A board, at least for a reasonable price.
So before I was having the motherboard control the voltage for the cpu. I set the the jumpers to default and started using my goldfinger to control the voltage instead. This is the result after some tinkering. It still wont go past 119fsb.
I am now in 1st on HWBOT for overclocking the Athlon Thunderbird Slot A.
I've got FSB adjustments nicely available on a 1Mhz step until 125Mhz, but the board does allow up to 150Mhz. It's freshly recapped with Panasonic FR's too. Stability wasn't exactly acceptable at 115Mhz and while benchmark apparently completed without issues, 3DMark 2000 CPU score was only 381 pts, so I'll need to learn more about overclocking on these boards and test the Plutos and Argons too...
Just bought a Gigabyte GA-7IXE. Hopefully that will arrive next week and I can get it fighting fit to give me some overclocking!

Awesome!!! I have a asus k7v-t on the way but it needs caps and an agp slot replacement.
Turned my attention to overclocking the Ti 500. Added the gpu oc to the screenshot. I think 10K is out of my reach unless the K7V-T can provide the additional 500 points once its fixed.
Well, things took a turn.
Bought the PCB and BOM required to make a goldfinger device.
Gigabyte GA-7IXE is due tomorrow.
I’ve also bought a K7M and a supposedly dead K7V.
I’ve also got a Pluto CPU on the way.
Many things to hopefully try.
Very nice! Supposedly the K7v motherboards are easy to mode into the k7v-t boards so it fully supports the thunderbirds.
GA-7IXE and K7V are here, K7V needs a re-cap at a bare minimum. As it's likely to be the better 'clocker I'm going to focus my time on getting it running before looking at the Gigabyte board.
Hopefully get a run in this afternoon/evening. With it having Universal AGP I might be able to run a 6800 rather than the FX 3000.
