im looking for that too, cant find it tough..
How do i get pandora to work propperly?!
Two different motherboards I have at work have both AC'97 integrated audio. They also have some settings in bios to emulate a SB card, but you need to run a VIA's dos program to enable it under dos. Check your bios and then http://www.viaarena.com

No, but I can zip the dos file tomorrow when at work. It's a tiny COM file. I will post it back to you tomorrow, but I think it may don't work if your bios doesn't have the aforementioned SB support. No hurt in trying, though.
Here is the link for the combo driver package (includes MS-DOS)
thx m8

Does this mean this worked for you? I highly doubt it - not all AC97 chips are alike. The ALC101 is a AC97 2.2-based chip, most of those have no DOS drivers.
Best bet - boot Win95 and use the VXD drivers available from Realtek. This provides SB emulation in a DOS window.
OR - someone port ALSA to FreeDOS (is this even possible to begin with) or port the ALSA drivers over to DOS somehow. (Hm, Saka of Vsynchmame again? I'll check.)
However, if eL_PuSHeR's package works fine for you, please let us know.

I'm tyring to get Digital Sound in Tyrian working...
For some reason VDMSound did not solve the problem
(Tyrian files already patched to deal with the TP delay issue.)I also can't get sound out of Wolf3D (but then this does funny
things on my video card so I doubt I'll get it working.Suprisingly Doom, Heretic and Blood all worked fine
on A220 I5 D1 P330 with full sound and music (withouth VDMSound).
Please start a thread in the VDMSound forums about your problems. We're here to help.
Anyhow, booting into DOS is not going to be an option unless you remove the sound chip (in the BIOS) and add a DOS-compatible sound card.

Since you can't enable legacy sound in the BIOS this may be a moot point but I thought I'd point it out:
http://www.elsaco.com/epox/support/bulletin-1174.htm
Without the VIAFMTSR I couldn't get DOS sound to work at ALL.
The big problem is the VIAFMTSR is HUGE be DOS standards when loaded. It's something like 33 Kb in memory. I have been playnning on getitng out a HexEditor and trying to crack it to make it smaller.
Oh you need the VIAFMTSR AND Viaudio.com file to make it work, so your are over 50 Kb just for sound.....

It shouldn't work, Carrerra... He's got a Realtek ALC101 instead of a VIA 3057 (686A).
Still, here's a working link:

I figured as much... I just figured if yomeone searched on AC97 and DOS they might find it and find it usefull...
If I ever get around to tweaking it I'll let you know...
well i said earlier thx m8, but it didnt work but i use anither trick for my dos game now

Sounds more like you have something preventing VDMSound from working (something that allows direct hardware access), if the native SB emulation works. Or you need to make sure you're setting the programs to use IRQ 7, which is what VDMSound uses.
Yes, it’s my fault.
