Hello,

I am trying to get the music working correctly on Monkey Island 2. I am running under XP, and when I tried VDMSound, it did help, but the music still has a slightly 'inconsistent' feel to it- it occasinally slows down or speeds up, making it sound like it's skipping. It's sometimes a bit crackly too. Any ideas on how to resolve this, as I simply can't play this game without the excellent music of Michael Land!

Thanks,

I had a similar problem and fixed it with Speedset. Search the forums for how to use Speedset from within the LaunchPad. I use this setting in my autoexec:

speedset 0.05

Though it might be different for more and less powerful machines.

You're right. Playing this game without it's excellent music would be a shame.
I suggest you try the SCUMM VM. It's a re-engineered engine for playing various Lucasarts adventure games based on the SCUMM engine.

You can find it at SCUMMVM

Installation and usage is pretty straight forward.

Hope i could help...

DosBox should also be a viable option as it allows you to throttle cycles manually.
