Hi all,

The subject pretty much sums up my question, are there any lists available online of DOS games that absolutely require an older PC / caches disabled [for faster machines] in order to run properly?

Thanks in advance.

DOS Gaming System: MS-DOS, AMD K6-III+ 400/ATZ@600Mhz, ASUS P5A v1.04 Motherboard, 32 MB RAM, 17" CRT monitor, Diamond Stealth 64 3000 4mb PCI, SB16 [CT1770], Roland MT-32 & Roland SC-55, 40GB Hard Drive, 3.5" Floppy Drive.

Well, Tyrian is infamous for returning some type of a runtime error if it's run on anything faster than a 200MHz CPU. Also, a lot of the old PC booter games were optimized for the IBM PC's clockspeed of 4.77MHz, and they run way too fast on anything faster than that. OK, so the PC booter games aren't technically DOS games, but many of them have had DOS ports and/or were converted to DOS by various cracking groups.

Wings of Fury does not work on PCs faster than a slow 80386SX.

The ideal system for the PC version of Wings of Fury is an 8 MHz, 286-based Tandy 1000 TL or TL/2, with which you'll get to experience the digital sound-effects heard in the Amiga version, via the Tandy DAC.

Strangely enough, the "explosion" sound should be very familiar to anyone who has played Castlevania: SoTN.
