4D Sports Driving/Stunts crashes if opponent is selected?!!

I came across this strange problem... I have a 4D Sports Driving/Stunts v. 1.1. The game works fine if I only drive by myself (all cars, tracks), but if I select an opponent the game always crashes after selecting "Drive" with a memory error I can't remember right now (but I can check it later).

Is this a known problem?

Specs:

P200MMX (cache off -> ~486dx)
32MB

Errm, it's from a dos game collection floating in the internet... I did run the setup for the audio and it works just fine. I can try to install it to another folder/hd though, bacause the installer is there.
