I just reinstalled MS-DOS 6.22 on my DOS Machine and I would like to know which things I'll have to change to free up more Conventional memory while still keeping my drivers

CONFIG.SYS Settings
DEVICE=C:\DOS\SETVER.EXE
DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS
DEVICEHIGH=C:\CTCM\CTCM.EXE
DEVICEHIGH=C:\DOS\OAKCDROM.SY /D:MSCD001
DOS=HIGH
REM ** FILES=30
FILES=40

AUTOEXEC.BAT Settings
SET SOUND=C:\SB16
SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 H5 P330 E620 T6
SET MIDI=SYNTH:1 MAP:E MODE:0
SET CTCM=C:\CTCM
C:\SB16\DIAGNOSE /S
C:\SB16\AWEUTIL /S
C:\SB16\MIXERSET /P /Q
C:\CTCM\CTCU /S
C:\DOS\SMARTDRV.EXE /X
LH C:\DOS\MSCDEX.EXE /D:MSCD001
@ECHO OFF
PROMPT $p$g
PATH C:\DOS
SET TEMP=C:\DOS

15,360K Total XMS and 2,222K of XMS is used up while 110K of Conventional Memory is used which leaves only 529KB's

Never Mind, i figured it out on my own

At least it's not like the Ultima 7 "Voodoo Memory" from Origin Systems. Back in the day, that required special bootdisks, just to free enough Conventional Memory to let Voodoo load, and manage all mem above 640K.

On my retro PC I don't use any fancy memory tricks but drivers that are small from the get go. The OAK driver is massive. I use an Acer driver instead.

Some mouse drivers are also large, CTMOUSE is much smaller. Do you really need SETVER?

I'll throw in another shrinking tip for anyone with UK Keyboard...

Only source I've found for UKKEYB.SYS - a very much smaller UK keyboard mapper the just does the few keys that change between US/UK - says it does not work in DOSBox though
