Does anyone happy to know if DOS (not under Windows) can detect and utilise a Wavetable daughter board hanging off an integrated ESS (1788F in this case)?
Or is anyone doing this or has tried to do this?

Sorry, I don't have any hardware with wavetable connector.
I don't own any motherboards with an integrated ESS chip, but I expect DOS would see it as just another Plug & Play ISA sound device. Any data being sent to the MIDI Out port (usually 330H) would also go to the appropriate pin on the wavetable connector.
