Hi, I am getting an error "API error" when starting Actua Tennis on Windows 7 x64. Has anyone got this running especially in 3dfx mode if possible, Thanks 😀

Patch updated.
Tried with the updated patch still getting an API error when running Tennis.exe
Did you run PatchInstall.bat and At.reg after replacing all files?
If so, reinstall the game and then create bat file with this command:
regedit /E myreg.reg "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Actua Tennis"
Execute bat file and post myreg.reg content here.
I have reinstalled the game and made the batch file and run it.
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Actua Tennis]
"DisplayName"="Actua Tennis"
"ModifyPath"=".\\SETUP.EXE"
"InstallLocation"=".\\"
"InstallSource"=".\\"
"DisplayVersion"="1.00"
"VersionMajor"=dword:00000001
"VersionMinor"=dword:00000000
"Publisher"="Gremlin Interactive"
"ProductId"="TennisCode"
"RegCompany"="."
"RegOwner"="."

Was I correct in doing it before adding the patchinstall.bat and replacing the files?

Yes, don't use my patch (files, PatchInstall.bat or at.reg) before creating myreg.reg file.
Now do the same for a different reg key (if you used my patch already, reinstall the game again).
Create a bat file with this:
regedit /E myreg.reg "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Actua Tennis"
Post myreg.reg content.
Ok here is the result of both in one post
Using the first key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Actua Tennis]
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Actua Tennis]
"DisplayName"="Actua Tennis"
"ModifyPath"=".\\SETUP.EXE"
"InstallLocation"=".\\"
"InstallSource"=".\\"
"DisplayVersion"="1.00"
"VersionMajor"=dword:00000001
"VersionMinor"=dword:00000000
"Publisher"="Gremlin Interactive"
"ProductId"="TennisCode"
"RegCompany"="."
"RegOwner"="."
"HelpTelephone"="(+44) (0114) 279 9020"
"HelpLink"=".\\readme.txt"
"URLUpdateInfo"="http://www.gremlin.co.uk"
"URLInfoAbout"="http://www.gremlin.co.uk"
"LanguageLetter"="E"
"Footprint"=dword:00000002
Using the second key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Actua Tennis
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Actua Tennis]
"DisplayName"="Actua Tennis"
"UninstallString"="C:\\Windows\\iun6002.exe \"F:\\Install\\Actua Tennis\\irunin.ini\""
"InstallSource"="D:\\"
"LanguageLetter"="E"
"Footprint"=dword:00000002
This has both been done on a clean install without any patch applied
Hope this helps! 😀
1) Now click at.reg and make a reg file from:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Actua Tennis
Again, post the result here.
2) Click PatchInstall.bat and open "Uninstall or change a program" dialog window. Do you see "Actua Tennis Patch" entry there?
Here is my contents of the registry key you want before installing the patch
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Actua Tennis]
"DisplayName"="Actua Tennis"
"UninstallString"="C:\\Windows\\iun6002.exe \"F:\\Install\\Actua Tennis\\irunin.ini\""
"InstallSource"="D:\\"
"LanguageLetter"="E"
"Footprint"=dword:00000002
Yes i see an Actua Tennis and Actua Tennis Patch in my list of programs to uninstall

I know. Now I'm asking you to make a reg file after clicking at.reg from my patch for
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Actua Tennis.
The contents after installing your patch
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Actua Tennis]

"UninstallString"="C:\\Windows\\iun6002.exe \"F:\\Install\\Actua Tennis\\irunin.ini\""
"InstallSource"=".\\"
"LanguageLetter"="E"
"Footprint"=dword:00000002
"ModifyPath"=".\\SETUP.EXE"
"InstallLocation"=".\\"
"DisplayVersion"="1.00"

Launch this executable from a game directory and tell me what you see.
Also, post your graphics card model and driver version.
When running this new exe I get an error
"ExUpdatePalette: Generating Look-Up"
My card is an Nvidia 550 Ti with 306.97 driver
Is there any difference when you try to launch tennis.exe with Windows 95 compatibility mode?
Exactly the same error when running in Windows 95 compatibility mode
Try tennis2.exe.
Tried Tennis2.exe same error as before
"ExUpdatePalette: Generating Look-Up"
Same error when running in windows 95 compatibility mode too
Is this just a program that we will never get going on a 64bit platform Zeus?
could that error indicate the game needs support for palleted textures ?
ps: what gfx card do you have ?
amd check this:
http://groups.google.com/group/comp.sys.ibm.p … c1%3Ftvc%3D1%26
does it support glide ? glide wrapper
Guardian of the Sacred Five Terabyte's of Gaming Goodness
Thanks, Davros. I have no clue about the palleted textures I am not that technically gifted 😀
Yes the game runs on a 32bit platform with nglide but not on my Windows 7 x64
My card is A Nvidia 550 ti gfxcard
