Which virtual machine would you recommend? It has to be easy and fast to setup? I am supposed to run all my old games on it.

DOSBox for DOS games
Virtual PC for Windows 9x games.
VirtualBox/Vmware for 2000+ games.

VirtualBox for OGL games. (Only with XP+ guests)
Vmware for D3D games. (Only with XP+ guests)

VMWare Workstation > Virtual PC in most/all cases. It is not freeware however 😒

DOSBox for DOS games, no VM can match DOSBox in terms of compatibility.

AMD Ryzen 3700X | ASUS Crosshair Hero VIII (WiFi) | 16GB DDR4 3600MHz RAM | MSI Geforce 1070Ti 8GB | Windows 10 Pro x64.

Yeah, but according to their documentation they only support XP+ guests for OGL.

Last time I tried D3D in a 2000 guest in Vmware I would get BSOD's in almost every D3D game. Using an XP guest on the same machine, no BSOD's.

direct 3d support is official in vmware 6.5 and experimental in 6.05. I also have to agree that VirtualPC is by far, the most stable environment for Windows 9x. (dosbox may be more stable, but a jillion light years slower)
