I loaded nibiru onto my computer and the opening scene of a man typing is painfully slow. Has anyone else experienced this? Here is my computer specifications are listed below:

if it runs under win95 that only supported a maximum of dx8.0a i think it certainly didnt support dx9

FX 5200

i ran it fine on a FX 7600.

but that is only a guess, sorry it is slow for you , it is a really fun game and has some killer puzzles.

yes but a 7600 (only the 5 series uses the term fx) would be about 8 times as powerfull as a 5200

heres what worries me

why does it say (Microsoft Corporation) ?

that makes me think he is using the drivers that came with xp and not the latest ones from nvidia

also
"AGP Status: Not Available"
maybe he is using a pci card and thats the way it is, but im using a pci-e card and mine says "AGP Status: Enabled"

5200s were slow even when they were introduced way back in 2003. They were the replacement for the old GeForce4 MX, which if you recall was essentially a rebadged GeForce 2. Get a new video card, then it will work.

What video card would you recommend for PCI then? His motherboard lacks AGP and PCI-E slots.

If they really want to throw good money after bad, there are still a few PCI video cards available, like this 9500 GT. But why someone would spend any money to upgrade a Celeron 2.53GHz to play games is beyond me. This thing doesn’t have even a sliver of retro value.

If it's a Directx 5, 6 or 7 game, roll back to the 93.71 drivers. Drivers with format 1xx.xx lack support for older directx versions.

Nibiru uses DirectX 9.

And he just wants to play a 2004 game in a 2004 computer. Sounds reasonable to me. I wouldn't suggest a video card upgrade just for this game.

Oh, come on! The computer may be designed for office work, but it meets the minimum system requirements. It exceeds even the recommended system requirements by far.

@glyco0: see if you can edit the agds.cfg file and set videomode=1024x768x16.

While, PCI video cards do suck, you can find some half way decent ones.

Newegg has an assortment of DX9 and DX10 PCI cards. Just find one that meets your price and PSU. $50 isn't that much to pay to improve your pc.
