Compatibility mode (windows 2000 sp4) in games seems to work only if I log on as administrator. The compatibility tab doesn't show at all if I log on as a user. The problem is that even if I set a game to run in win98 compatibility mode when I am administrator it doesn't work when I am a user. Any ideas?

I am not as familiar with 2k as I am XP, but XP has a "Run As" on the right click option for programs. It will allow you run programs (from a non admin login) with administrator rights. It will ask you for your admin login password and then run that program with admin rights.

I thought you had to make a shortcut to the executable and set compatibility modes in there. Only the administrator set that. but users benefit from it.

It should be this way as enabling compatibility somewhat lowers security. Therefore it's reasonable to allow only admistrator to set this.
