I'm having a problem with Starfleet Command (the first one).

I bought the game years ago and a while ago, when I tired of playing SFC 3 i decided to reinstall this old classic.
The installation goes without any problems, the patching likewise, the problem starts when I start the game. The loading process works as it should but when I enter the game I notice that I can only play multiplayer games, probably meaning that the program doesnt recognize the disc in the cd drive. This is extremely frustrating and I have no idea what to do.

Neither can I contact the manufacturer since Interplay does not exist any longer as far as I can understand.

Any hints to what may be causing this???
