right, windows xp was the last Microsoft os to support multiple (standard, apm ahci, multiprocessor and so on) hal, whereas in vista and later they only support single and multi processor ahci hal and in 7 is worse
still that's not the biggest problem, assuming you can get it to work, you need to take in account the incompatibility
there's no support at all for pre-pci devices, no support for game port and it'll lack support for anything, and it'll be slow
As a reminder I have 7 working on my 430tx k6 build and it’s quite handy. Sure a tad slow but definitely usable. In fact I use it more than the other operating system on that build.
But yeah, lack of isa sucks but I don’t actually have any isa cards in these two builds
The only thing it seems keeping me from using 7 it seems is acpi.
I read somewhere that 7 assumes acpi based on the bios date?
Anyone able to change the date on my bios? Maybe it actually does work but assumes it doesn’t someone who previously looked at my bios said that it had acpi in it though maybe a older version. But maybe that was just the program they were using reporting wrong
There are reports of windows 7 working on as little as 96mb of ram btw. On mine I have 256 on the win 7 computer and it idles at 150mb ish
