I've checked the boards for a hour or so and I can't find this mentioned anywhere but I apologize if its redundant.

Trying to install some educational software called Ultimate Speed Reader and I'm getting the error : Illegal command: win

Here is what I'm doing:

starting up Dosbox

mount D D:\ -t cdrom -label ULTIMSR -ioctl
mount C C:\olddos
d:

then at the d: prompt, i type "setup.exe"

After I hit enter, Dosbox then shows

d:\win SETUP.EXE
Illegal command: win.

I've tried mounting without the -label, as well as without the \olddos and I get the same result.

Many thanks in advance for the help.

EDIT: other relevant factors possibly, I'm running Windows XP and I'm trying to install the program as opposed to running it (which I will do once its installed).

I suppose it's possible that setup.exe is a Windows executable. IIRC, Speed Reader comes in Windows 3.1/95, DOS versions. Don't know what the CD looks like but look around for an Install.exe or somesuch.

There is no install.exe anywhere on the CD, and upon further examination, it seems pretty likely that it is a Windows executable. Yet another reason for me to be disgusted with Microsoft.

Thanks for the help guys.
