If I'm not wrong, it was introduced in DosBox (and its forks) more than ~10 years ago and it's based on Aaron Giles implementation that he had done for MAME long ago. Voodoo cards are in pcemu for few years already. I'm just curious, what is/are the reason(s) for it still working very slow or simply unreliable in most cases (crashes, screen tearing, artifacts etc.)?
1) There's no knowledgeable person with a will to improve it?
2) Is the amount of work required too much so it's too risky to invest time and effort?
3) Technical difficulties are very hard or impossible to overcome?
4) Modern computer's limitations? Which one - CPU or graphic cards?
5) Lack of documentation?
6) There's simply not enough interest in 3dfx emulation (i.e. 3d games from late 90s/early 2000s)?
Is there any way how common bread eaters like me could help to improve the situation anyhow?
