This is on an Win10 system, completely tried this on a whim and to my surprise it worked! The only snag was when trying to
uninstall a game got hit with all this "permissions" crap. Doesn't make sense as I'm set as the administrator in win10.

Anyone have any insight on how to rectify this? Some tips on getting USB drivers installed would help too.

No surprise, Windows 98 is a supported guest OS on VirtualBox.

Sorry what do you mean "permissions crap " ? On the guest -- Windows 98 ? Or is it a VirtualBox error ?

The USB 1.1 controller should be recognized by Win98's builtin OHCI driver, no drivers required.

Yes the "permissions" message came up while in the guest os/win98. Tried googling it but came up empty.
I ended up starting from scratch and so far all is fine, even got USB flash drives working.
