I suppose that some of those picture viewers or painting programs
might have supported those modes, but that's not really games...

Maybe Sim City 2000? It supported a lot of SVGA cards.

I have traveled across the universe and through the years to find Her.

Mah Jongg -8514- uses the 8514/a. There's a copy on my website. This should be familiar to anyone who played Mah Jongg -V-G-A-.

SC2000 runs at 640x480 afaik, 8514A uses 1024x768.

Well does it work also on a real 8514/A or does it relies on some ATI specific features?

I don't know. And I can't force FS4 to run under emulation of 8514/A 🙁
