Ok guys, here is the deal: I have this VESA video card on my 486, it's called Phantom 64 and the manufacturer is Genoa Systems. That's the only info i have over it. Is this card good enough for modern games like Duke 3D? I was thinking about putting it on my Peintium 100 machine, is it worth it the hard work? Thanks!

The card, yes. The CPU, no. When playing unaccellerated, texture-mapped 3D games, CPU is more important than video card.

Just FYI, Duke Nukem 3D runs pretty smooth on my P100 in 640x480 resolution, but almost every other 3D games (like Jane's ATF and System Shock) runs choppy on 640x480 and above.

Frankly though, if you're using P100, there are not many 3D games that run smoothly on 640x480. In fact, only these few games run relatively smooth on my P100 (with Matrox Mystique video card):
Privateer 2: The Darkening
TIE Fighter Collector CD ROM (but this game doesn't have texture mapping, go figure)
Duke Nukem 3D
MDK (a little bit choppy)
Space Rangers

Never thought this thread would be that long, but now, for something different.....

Those particular two don't really run well on much faster (i.e. 300mhz) computers either. The 100mhz has enough power it needs, it just lacks the cpu and mmx for things like zsnes ;D (Except for certain games run under it which magically run full maximum speed with maximum sound quality)

AFAIK, Genoa Phantom 64 uses S3 Trio 64 chip. Decent cards, perfect compatibility and very good speed.
