Here you are : http://www.uktsupport.co.uk/pb/mb/410.htm
Seems to me, it's worth replacing the cpu with a faster 486 and also adding some cache memory chips.
You don't need to close any jumpers in order for the external battery to work. You just connect it and that's it. Then it should maintain the settings. The battery in your link should be fine.

Awesome! I'm gonna leave this one as is and I'm building a 486DX2/66. Thanks for the info!

One thing though - it states:

Remove the shorting cap on jumper J24. Then attach the battery to connector J28, positive to pin 1, negative to pin 4.

J24 (JB8S) On-Board Battery
Closed Enabled
Open Disabled

So I assume I have to remove this jumper to open/enable the external battery?

Sometimes the motherboard has that additional jumper to specify internal / external battery, and sometimes that's incorporated into the same header as the battery connection. So yes, remove the jumper from J24 too.

Nice save, that battery was getting nasty. I hope you washed your hands!

Life? Don't talk to me about life.

Hands washed shortly after cleaning the dried up 'gunk' off the board. External battery pack(s) ordered. Wish me luck!

I'm sorry, I didn't scroll down the page enough to see that actualy on this board you have to remove that jumper(J24).
Nice pics. It's been a while since I've last seen a cd-rom drive with a caddy.
