This is pretty interesting as a curiosity, but I fail to see the usefulness if you can only use it in a few programs. Maybe the deal between MS and Roland only included a basic synth without effects and that's why you can't use it through the regular MIDI mapper.

Yes, it's completely useless so far, but I was just saying "it exists and it's right there". Maybe if someone could make a windows program that maps incoming MIDI to DM, it would be more useful. Think something like MIDI-OX.

Hey thanks, i got winamp to try it (wow that program tries to install a lot of crapware!) and it seems much like you say - ms synth with the effects. Certainly i wouldn't say it is better than vsc or anything, but it is nice to hear, if even for the "wtf this was here all along" novelty!

Mind you, it's not like it can really be used by many things, like you say!
