Hello, i am using Windows 95 and Windows 98 with Virtualbox.
My Problem is that Midi-Files are not working for me on both operating systems.
Does Virtualbox have generally no Midi-Support? Or has anyone figured out how to get Midi working?
I would be very thankful for your help.

Microsoft Synthesizer is present but I'm not sure how to make it work as a GM device in Win 9x, where as on Windows XP it does function as a GM device by default.

You can play your MIDI files through DirectMusic under Win9x but as for actual MIDI as far as I know virtualbox does not support any sort of MIDI interfaces.

VirtualBox was never catered towards old Guest OS's so you might have to look for something else, or hope someone made a third party patch for it to allow MIDI devices to have visibility and access on the guest side.

Maybe Roland Virtual Sound Canvas, timidity or the Yamaha Soft Synthetizer could work.

I don't think Virtualbox has MIDI port support but you could try to use a USB-to-MIDI device via the USB passthrough.
