I tried buying and running old hardware but I simply don't have the mental capacity nowadays to deal with the massive price hikes, the experimentation with drivers and when hardware is unstable due to caps gone off.
Perhaps later.

For now, I'm content just running a Win10 machine with GoG.

I do like to run the games as best as they can though, and that means using Glide and enjoy the A3D/EAX audio.
For EAX one can use AlChemy, does such emulators exist for Glide and A3D? ( Also, it appears Creative dropped AlChemy some time ago, I should be able to run it, having a G6 )

I'd be running at minimum a i5 2350T with a R7 250 1Gb but can go to a 3930k with GTX750Ti's if the software demands it.
Do keep in mind, I have 'some' experience with old hardware/software, but not much more than using step by step guides.

Can you help?

I think GOG generally does a great job making their releases compatible with modern versions of Windows. Some of their games actually ship with nGlide. DOS games usually come preconfigured with DOSBox and optimized settings.

As far as Alchemy goes, why not just get a card that supports it?

There are also some special things that have to be done as Alchemy apparently never really worked properly with the default install.

There are apparently also alternatives to Alchemy now:
