My Pentium 133 was bought in November 5th, 1996.
If I still had it, it would be 25 years old by now.

Not wanting to rebuild 100% what it was, I think it's time for a tribute.

Looking at the invoice and from what I recall, maisn specs were:

AT case with AT (Flagpoint?) motherboard
Intel Pentium 133MHz
2x 8MB SIMM (later upgraded to 24MB)
Seagate 1.3GB HDD
Goldstar 8x CD-ROM
S3 Trio 64V+ 2MB PCI
BTC/MED ISA soundcard

Let the fun begin!

The main star of the build:

And the REAL question to me: ATX or AT? Personally I grew up to dislike AT, but the HX is screaming "Choose me!"

Nice build! Very similar to my first PC, which was also purchased in '96.

I still remember the crunchy sounds those Seagate Medalist HDDs made while reading/writing. I wouldn't use one today, with all the modern alternatives that are available, but that sound remains one of the earliest memories that I associate with PC gaming.

Fixed.
I have a few HDDs (Seagate and Quantum) that are perfect for the build but I do like a silent machine... Decisions, decisions...

I decided to go with the ATX motherboard.
Although it has an ATI RAGE II +DVD with 2MB, Yamaha YMF715-S and YMF704-S (wavetable) onboard, I decided to use:

ESS ES1868F + ES690F

16MB DIMM will do for now, I'll upgrade if necessary

I like the sound of the ESS wavetable and the quality of the Elsa card is quite nice.

Another thing I'll add is my favorite add-on that was bought back then and kept since.

Aimslab Radiotrack ISA card
