After the success of making a Dos machine, I received a Dell dimension 2400 for free. After looking into it it has no AGP slot (Shame on you Dell!). I received a Hp 7955 motherboard which is an Asus p4b-la which I plan on putting in there since it has a 4x AGP slot 1.5v. I also noticed an odd port at the bottom. Up the ole power supply a bit and put a 2.60 GHz, 400 FSB, L2 cache:512KB Intel processor. I did see some people put a 2.8 Ghz and 533 FSB processor in them but I wasn't going to push it. I've seen a lot of threads on video cards but man AGP cards are getting expensive. There has to be a price to performance ratio to consider. It comes with a Riva TNT 2 card (which may be fine for Windows 98 games) but I wanted a beefier experience for XP. My hope was to run Kotor, Oblivion, Fable, Max Payne, and Jedi Outcast as well as legacy 98 games. I don't want the best graphics just playable. Let others have the best of the best. I can get a 256mb XFX 128-bit fx5200 for 30 bucks but I'm not sure that'll run Oblivion very well.
