Just wondering if anybody has the same problem, and knows how to fix it. The core is set to dynamic, but when dosbox launches I get 3000 cycles only.

Ehm... Change the cycles? Ctrl-F11/Ctrl-F12, or "cycles=<number>" in dosbox.conf. Have a look at README.TXT in the dosbox directory.
The dynamic core is an emulation method that dynamically converts the code running on the emulated CPU to code running directly on your real CPU (in as much as possible and this is a gross oversimplification). It does not mean the cycle count is dynamic for that, try cycles=max.

3000 cycles at the DOSBox prompt, or while the game is running?

the standard cycles=auto setting will stay at 3000 for "real mode" programs (in real world terms: those that can run on a PC/XT). If your game is real-mode and too slow, you need to set higher cycles.
tearex
CORE=DYNAMIC
CYCLES=MAX
Then the Ctrl Fn keys will change up/down in 5% blocks
