Hi all

I have noticed that Prehistorik 2 does some strange VGA register manipulation on launch, so the game sets a very strange video mode.
Do you guys happen to know what's the exact video refresh rate set by this game? It's not typical 70Hz or mode-x (~60Hz), that's for sure...

i am not sure if you can specify the refresh rate in pure vga mode without any chip-specific routines. this could be just a bug in your video controller. some video cards like to drive certain resolutions at funky refresh rates.

In every card I have tried, from S3 Trio to Matrox or even Diamond Edge 3D, I have seen this game set a "custom" video mode...

PCem reports these at different parts on VGA:
Title = 320x200@70hz
Difficulty/world pan=624x400@70hz
ingame = 640x200@70hz

Does your monitor have a digital mode-reporting OSD?

@leileilol: no, my monitor does not display the refresh rates.
But you gave me the numbers I needed! So thanks a LOT!

However, Prehistorik 2 graphics & audio routines seem to be pretty much broken: smooth scrolling on the map sequence and level loading screens seems only possible with audio disabled.
