Hello all.
I was trying to play Jazz Jackrabbit 2 on my non mmx pentium 200 and a TNT2 M64 pci with detonator 3.68.
Installed version 1.20 off jazz2 and started it. Went to the video menu to switch to hw mode and 16bits rendering.
However 16 bits color was not available. Only a maximum of 640x480 8bit.

Tried to solve it by updating the game to 1.23, no change.
Downgrading the detonator driver to 2.08, no change.

Then I decided to try the 1.00h oem version of jazz 2 and in this version the 16bit color was available.

But i do not want to play the 1.00h because it was basically a unfinished beta.

How can i enable 16bit color mode in de 1.2x retail version? Of course i googled, but didnt find much info to solve this.

Maybe you guys have a good idea how to adress this😊

I'm fairly certain you need MMX to enable 16bit color in Jazz2.

Yes, you need for example a Pentium MMX CPU if you want to play Jazz 2 in 16-Bit mode.

I always recommend a Pentium P54C non MMX if you only use DOS/maybe Windows 3.11 on this system for later demanding DOS Games and for Windows 95 and above a Pentium MMX P55C CPU.

Here is a good video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqWWZihAIw4
The most differences between P54C and P55C are under Windows 95/98.

Thanks for your reply! It's clear the cpu is too limited. This topic can be close.
